Bulgarian Minority Coproduction Finalist at 2017 LUX FILM PRIZE

    STRASBOURG: German / Bulgarian / Austrian coproduction Western, directed by Valeska Grisebach, is among the three finalists at the 11th LUX FILM PRIZE. The winner will be announced at the formal sitting of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 15 November 2017.

    The other selected films are France’s BPM (Beats per Minute) / 120 battements par minute, directed by Robin Campillo, and Sámi Blood, directed by Amanda Kernell, a coproduction between Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

    The finalists were announced by Antonio Tajani, the President of the European Parliament, at the Giornate degli Autori (Venice Days) press conference on 25 July 2017.

    From October to December 2017, BPM, Sámi Blood and Western will be subtitled into the 24 official EU languages and will be screened in more than 50 cities and several festivals across 28 EU countries.

    Western is produced by Komplizen Film Production in coproduction with Chouchkov Brothers, Coop99, KNM, ZDF-Das Kleine Fernsehspiel and ARTE.
