Romanian film, two regional co-productions vie for European Film Award

    The Romanian film 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days directed by Cristian Mungiu and two co-productions from the New Europe are among the six nominees for best film in the 20th European Film Awards. The winners will be announced on Dec. 1 in Berlin.

    The Edge of Heaven, a Turkish-German co-production directed by Fatih Akin and the French-Czech-UK co-production La Vie en Rose directed by Olivier Dahan are also among the six nominations for best film.

    Cristian Mungiu and Fatih Akin, who were also both nominated as best director, share other accolades as well. 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days won the coveted Palme d'Or in Cannes this year while Akin won best screenplay for The Edge of Heaven.

    The Romanian film is produced by Mobra Film SRL. The Edge of Heaven is produced by Germany's Corazón International GmbH & Co KG (www.corazon-int.de), Anka Film (www.ankafilm.com) of Turkey in association with NDR, Dorje Film.
