By Nina Boyarshinova

Wong Ching Po, known for his thriller Jiang Hu (aka Gong Wu, Blood Brothers, 2004) about Hong Kong gangs with Andy Lau and Jacky Cheung, screens his fifth feature film Revenge: A Love Story in competition at the Moscow IFF. The director co-wrote the script with pop-singer Juno Mac, who also takes the lead role.

revenge_a_love.jpgThe films recounts terrible crimes committed in two villages near Hong Kong, where a maniac brutally murders pregnant women and cuts their unborn children from their bellies. The press calls him "The Dissector." When the police begins the investigation, one of the victims has survived, giving the detectives some clues.

The European Premiere was at Terracotta Far East Film Festival in 2011 (www.terracottafestival.com) and the Korean premiere was at the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (www.pifan.com).

The budget of the movie is $2.1 million, and the world sales are managed by All Rights Entertainment Limited (www.allrightsentertainment.com)

The producers told FNE that this is second project from ETA Limited. Their first film was Dream Home which had a successful theatrical run and did well in North America.

The cast includes Japanese erotic film star Aoi Sola, who is also a celebrity in China, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea.

Revenge: A Love Story has also been selected to the Pi-Fan in South Korea.

revenge_a_love.jpgThe producers said that at the recent Cannes Film Festival, more than 10 programmers worldwide expressed interest in the film, and they are now in discussions with five potential buyers. The movie was sold during Cannes film market to nine European territories and will have its theatrical release by the end of 2011. Producers are now in negotiating with distributors from North America.
