PRODUCTION: Historia de la meva muerte in Preproduction

By Iulia Blaga

BUCHAREST: The Spanish filmmaker Albert Serra (Birdsong) is due to start shooting his new feature Historia de la meva muerte in Romania on 1 September 2011.

Historia de mi muerte, written by Albert Serra, follows the historical characters of Casanova and Dracula in an attempt to investigate the transition from the end of XVIII century's rationalism to the XIX century's romantism, through sexuality and day-to-day life.

The film is produced by Albert Serra's company Andergraun Films (www.andergraun.com) in co-production with the French Caprici Films (www.capricci.fr) with Thierry Lounas and the Romanian Elefant Film with Dan Burlac. The project is supported by Televisió de Catalunya (www.tv3.cat), and received 450,000 euro from the ICAA in 2010, Spain's film institute (www.mcu.es). The producers have not disclosed the film's budget.

The three-week shoot will take place around Sighisoara, Romania, Burlac told FNE. The second part of the shooting will take place in France. Jimmy Gimferrer is the DOP. The cast includes non-professional actors mainly from Catalunya.

The premiere is set for 2012.
