BUCHAREST: Italian director/screenwriter Adrian Valerio is in preparation with his first feature Banat, a coproduction between Italy, Romania, Bulgaria and Macedonia set for shooting in 2015.

Adriano Valerio and Ezio Abate wrote the script about two people from Bari, Ivo (35) and Clara (30). Ivo, an agronomist, is pushed by the lack of opportunities in Italy to accept a job in Banat, a fertile region of Western Romania. Clara has just come out of a long relationship and is about to lose her job. The film is a love story dealing with reverse immigration, showing two Italian people looking for happiness in Romania.

The film is produced by Movimento Film (Italy) in coproduction with Parada Film (Romania), Ars Digital (Bulgaria) and KT Media & Cinema (Macedonia). The project is supported by the MEDIA Programme, Mibac, the Romanian National Film Center, the Bulgarian National Film Center and the Macedonia Film Agency.

The budget is around 1.2m EUR with more than 80 % secured, Mario Mazzarotto from Movimento Film told FNE. Principal shooting will start in February 2015 and will last for five weeks. The film will be shot in Italy, Romania and Macedonia, and is set to be finished at the end of 2015. Intramovies will handle international sales.
