CLUJ-NAPOCA: The long documentary Bondoc directed by Mihai Mincan, Cristian Delcea and Mihai Voinea tells the story of a lonely chess master. The film will have its world premiere in the national competition Romanian Days at Transylvania International Film Festival (29 May - 7 June 2015).

The only dream of Dan Bondoc, a 78 year old chess master who lives alone in Bucharest, is to win the chess tournament organized in the memory of his late friend, the great Romanian chess player Victor Ciocâltea. During the next few days, Bondoc is caught between the battles against much younger opponents, the consciousness of his futility and the feeling that his many years are turning him into a helpless player.

This independent documentary is produced by Radu Stancu through deFilm with Ioana Lascăr as executive producer. The total budget was approximately 47,000 EUR including services.

The film was shot and edited in 2013-2014. Luchian Ciobanu is the DoP. There is no distributor attached to the project yet.
