By the Rails was recently selected for the main competition of the 51th edition of Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (1-9 July 2016). The film is a Romanian/Italian/Swedish coproduction between Strada Film, Apapaja, Film I Väst, The Chimney Pot and Digital Cube.

The third feature film by the winner of Palme d'Or for short film (Traffic) in 2004 is a love story between a young Romanian (Alexandru Potocean) working abroad and his estranged wife (Ada Condeescu). The man comes home to understand what's going on and spends an eventful night trying to figure out how to save his marriage.

Metropolis Film released the film in Romania on 22 April 2016.
