BUCHAREST: New Romanian film distributor Bad Unicorn makes its debut on the Romanian market by releasing Ildikó Enyedi's On Body and Soul on 30 June 2017. The company plans on releasing another titles until the end of the year.
Bad Unicorn was founded by Monica Felea and Ștefan Bradea, both experienced in domestic film distribution and promotion.
"With On Body and Soul it was love at first sight. We founded the company in 2016 and we didn't set a deadline for the first release. But we saw the film at the Berlinale, we loved it and we already started negotiating with Film Boutique. Then the film won the Golden Bear, the negotiations went on, and eventually we signed the deal", Monica Felea and Ștefan Bradea told FNE.
On Body and Soul will be released in Romanian cinemas which are part of the Europa Cinemas network, but the aim is to extend to multiplexes and also to towns with no cinemas. "We bought the film because we wanted it to reach as many people as possible", Felea and Bradea told FNE.
The company plans to bring mostly European films and especially films interesting both visually and thematically, and to steadily grow on the auteur film market.
