Ulrich Seidl Rumored to Film Evil Games in Romania

    BUCHAREST: Acclaimed Austrian helmer Ulrich Seidl is scheduled to shoot part of his anticipated feature film Evil Games / Böse Spiele in Romania. The film deals with the relationship between two Austrian brothers, one of whom has left for Romania and the other one for Italy.

    The script penned by Ulrich Seidl and Veronika Franz is about two brothers (played by Michael Thomas and Georg Friedrich), who are reuniting after many years on the occasion of their mother’s death. Seidl’s regular DoP Wolfgang Thaler will lens the film.

    According to an announcement by Ulrich Seidl Filmproduktion, which is looking for a translator in Romania, the team will be in Transylvania between April 2017 and March 2018. No public announcement has been made regarding shooting in Romania or about the Romanian company providing services. Ulrich Seidl Filmproduktion could not be reached for comment.

    At the end of March 2017 German media announced shooting had already started in Germany.

    Evil Games is an Austrian/German/French coproduction between Ulrich Seidl Filmproduktion, Essential Filmproduktion and Société Parisienne de Production - Coproduction Office in coproduction with ORF, BR and in collaboration with Arte. Coproduction Office is handling the sales.
