BUCHAREST: Writers/directors Gabi Virginia Șarga and Cătălin Rotaru are in preproduction with their first feature film, Primum Non Nocere. Their very first short film 4:15 p.m. The End of the World was selected for Cannes short film competition in 2016.
The story follows Cristian, a young surgeon who is troubled by the death of a patient, a few days after a successful surgery. He is convinced that the death had other causes than the surgery, and he starts his own investigation. But his search for the truth isolates him from his colleagues as well as from his wife, who is a nurse at the same hospital.
The film stars Alexandru Suciu, who lost 15 kilos and started smoking especially for this role. The cast includes Cristina Flutur (winner of best actress in Cannes for Cristian Mungiu’s Beyond the Hills, 2012) and Elias Ferkin (4:15 p.m. The End of the World).
Adina Sădeanu is producing through Axis Media Production in coproduction with Gabi Virginia Șarga and Cătălin Rotaru through Green Cat Film. The budget is 310,235 EUR, Sădeanu told FNE. The Romanian Film Centre is supporting the project.
Shooting is scheduled for 20 days in November 2017. The film is expected to be finished in March/April 2018, with the premiere set for 2018.
