Approximately 50 films will be screened, including fiction films and documentaries. The Balkanistan Workshop, which aims at strengthening the collaboration between young filmmakers from the Balkans, will have its third edition during the festival. Writers and directors from the Balkans with a project in early development can apply until 15 July 2018.

The Divan Film Festival was initiated by famous Romanian poet Mircea Dinescu and his wife, Masha Dinescu. The food side of the festival is being taken care of by Mircea Dinescu, who is also a chef, together with other chefs from the Balkans.

The festival is organised by the Poetry Foundation Mircea Dinescu and Casa de Cultură Traian Demetrescu in Craiova, and it is supported by the Romanian Film Centre in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute.
