The Romanian/Irish feature documentary Off the Beaten Path, directed by Dieter Auner and produced by Cristian Mungiu (www.mobrafilm.ro), will have its theatrical release in France on 25 January 2011. Worldwide distribution is handled by Vienna based sales company EastWest Filmdistribution (www.eastwest-distribution.com). Following the French release, the film will be distributed in Estonia, Bulgaria, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary.

The documentary follows one year in a family of shepherds in Northern Transylvania as they struggle to keep their traditional way of life while confronted by modernity. The film premiered at the Rotterdam IFF.
