Telesport declares bankruptcy
06 August 2010 By Iulia Blaga
The Court of Bucharest accepted the request of Telesport Intermedia SRL (www.telesport.ro) to become insolvent on August 2, 2010, and moving the TV company into bankruptcy.

The audiovisual licence for Telesport , which launched in 2003, was held by S.C. Realitatea Media S.A. (www.realitatea.net) until April 2009, when the National Audiovisual Council of Romania (www.cna.ro) agreed that the licence would pass to S.C. Telesport Intermedia SRL, a society managed by Constantin Druică and Sorin Enache, who is also the General Manager of Realitatea-Caţavencu Group (www.gruprc.ro). The shareholders of S.C. Telesport Intermedia SRL are GMG Media Box SA (99.95%) and Sorin Enache (0.05%).

Realitatea-Caţavencu launched Publika TV channel (www.publika.md) in Moldova in 2010, and stopped printing two daily newspapers in Romania. The portfolio of Realitatea-Caţavencu consists of TV channels Realitatea TV (www.realitatea.net), the Money Channel (tmctv.money.ro) and CineStar (www.cinestaronline.ro); the digital network Zoom (www.zoom.ro); the weekly publications Money Express (moneyexpress.money.ro) and Academia Caţavencu (www.catavencu.ro); Newsin news agency (www.newsin.ro), Radio Guerilla (www.radioguerrilla.ro), Realitatea FM (www.fm.realitatea.net) and Gold FM (www.radiogoldfm.ro); and the new media company F5Webcorp (www.f5web.ro)

In May, DTH Television Group, the owner of the satellite digital platform Boom TV (www.boomextra.ro) requested the Court for insolvency. The platform Boom TV was launched in 2006 and had a portfolio of 10 channels, airing also some 60 additional channels.
