BELGRADE: The Association of Film Festivals of Serbia / Asocijacija filmskih festivala Srbija (AFIFS) was founded in Belgrade with support from Film Center Serbia, and at the moment it includes seven festivals.

The main goal of the Memorandum signed by the founding members is to establish cooperation for future joint ventures and actions in order to encourage and improve public screening in the field of domestic cinematography, as well as decentralisation of cinematographic infrastructure, promotion of domestic films produced and made with the support of Film Center of Serbia (FCS), joint support for professional development in the field of cinematographic activities, exchange of professional knowledge, experiences and good practices in the field of festival screening.

So far the association includes seven major film festivals: the European Film Festival Palić, the Film Screenplay Festival in Vrnjačka Banja, Festival of Acting Achievements - Film Encounters in Niš, LIFFE - Leskovac International Film Festival in Leskovac, the Auteur Film Festival in Belgrade, the Šumadija International Debut Film Festival in Kragujevac and the Picture in Motion Film Festival in Novi Sad.

"In every country film festivals are part of the cinematographic infrastructure and that is why they are important to Film Center Serbia. FCS has helped these festivals in various ways before, but this year we have decided to create an Association following their initiative, which will then facilitate access to various funds home and abroad", said Gordan Matić, the director of Film Center Serbia.
