PRODUCTION: Slovak Documentary Comeback in Postproduction

    BRATISLAVA: Comeback, a Slovak documentary on the situation of ex-convicts trying to reenter society upon their release from a high-security prison, is in its final stage of rough cut. The 70,000 euro feature-length film is schedule for release in March 2012.

    Comeback is produced by Barbara Harumova Hessova for AH Productions (www.ah.sk ) and coproduced by the Bratislava film school VSMU (www.vsmu.sk ). The film is directed by Miro Remo (Arsy Versy).

    Shot is 16mm HD, for 35mm screening, the film received financial support from the Slovak Ministry of Culture.

    The film follows the fate of two released prisoners, accompanied by a journalist with a keen interest in the subject. The prisoners face differing situations, with one of the prisoners unable to locate his family in his former home. Along the way, the journalist attempts to change the lives of her subjects, but finds herself not knowing how to react when one of the prisoners falls in love with her.

    Both the director and producer are students in post-graduate programmes at VSMU in the Film and Television department.
