Markiza to Launch Men’s Channel

By Dominika Uhríková

BRATISLAVA: TV Markíza (www.markiza.sk), Slovakia's leading broadcaster owned by Central European Media Enterprises (www.cetv-net.com), is set to launch a third channel by the end of August 2012,.

According to a report in Mediálne, the channel Dajto!(a contraction of an informal Slovak expression used for encouragement) will be aimed at a male audience and is expected to build its programming around foreign action films and series, as well as sports and erotic content, similarly to Fanda (www.fanda.tv), launched by CME in the neighbouring Czech Republic earlier in July.

Though the exact kick-off date is yet to be officially confirmed, it is likely to be the last day of August, as both TV Markíza's previous channels - Markíza and Doma - were launched on the same date in 1996 and 2009 respectively.

The broadcaster, which has recently filed an application with the local industrial property protection authority to register the trade mark "Dajto!" refused to comment on the news.
