FESTIVALS: Cinematik Film Festival Kicks Off

    PIEŠTANY: The 11th International Film Festival Cinematik will be held in Piešťany from 13 to 18 September 2016. A total of 91 films (78 feature-length and 13 short and mid-length films) will be screened in six venues.

    Ten international films were selected for the fiction competition category Meeting Point Europe, including Olmo Omerzu´s Family Film. Domestic competitive section Cinematik.doc selected a showcase of domestic documentaries such as 5 October by Martin Kollar and the Slovak/Czech coproduction Steam on the River by Robert Kirchhoff and Filip Remunda. Cinematik.doc jury is composed of Gaby Babić, Matthieu Darras and Mária Ferenčuhová.

    More Slovak films will be shown in the section In the House including two Czech/Slovak coproductions - Little Feather by Lucia and Petr Klein Svoboda and Murderous Tales by Jan Bubeníček, which will have the Slovak premiere there.

    Other non-competitive sections focus on contemporary German cinema and the films by Wim Wenders. The festival includes the Dox in Vitro 2016 documentary seminary and workshop and also a Pannel of European film critics.
