ZILINA: The Slovak animation festival Fest Anca, running 27-30 June 2019, has announced its complete lineup of films, with a new section devoted to a panorama of Slovak films added this year.

Nearly 250 films, primarily shorts, will screen in 11 sections at this year’s festival.

There are 27 films competing for the Fest Anca Award + Anca Student Award. Another eight films are competing for the Anca Kids’ Award, and another eight are competing for the Anca Slovak Award. The final competition section for the Anca Music Video Award will screen 28 video clips.

More than 30 Slovak films and music videos were submitted for the 2019 Slovak competition, which had to be cancelled in 2017 due to an insufficient number of Slovak productions. Highlights in the Slovak competition include The Kite by Martin Smatana, which had its world premiere at the Berlinale, The End by Devid Stumpf, which won a development award at Annecy in 2018, and Fifi Fatale by Maria Kralovic, which recently competed for the Slovak Film Academy Awards.
