Slovak psycho-thriller preps 2010 shoot

By Jana Kadlecova
Slovak director Robert Sveda has signed on to direct Former People for Slovak Public Television's (STV) documentary series The Biggest Slovak Criminal Cases, produced by D.N.A. Production.

The case of Irena Cubirkova, which was the most brutal murder of the 1950's and 1960's, attracted him so much, that he decided to direct full-length feature film about her.
The final version of the screenplay of the psychological thriller has been completed, with pre-production to begin in June.
"If everything goes well, we should start filming at the beginning of 2010 in Slovakia and the Czech Republic," Sveda told FNE. The cast has not yet been set.
Sveda, together with Rasto Sestak and Peter Bebjak, is also the producer of the film. "The budget of the film is estimated at 1.5 - 2 million Euro. D.N.A. production has already been in negotiations with several co-producers," Sveda said.
The Audiovision Programme of the Ministry of Culture has given a 23,000 Euro grant to the film.

The premiere is planned in December 2010 in Slovakia and in Czech Republic and other co-production countries.
