LJUBLJANA: Tijana Zinajić started shooting her first feature Eva on 25 October 2019 in Ljubljana. The screenplay for this romantic comedy was written by Iza Strehar.
Eva is a 27-year-old academy-trained painter. After realising that she has not yet achieved anything at all in her entire life, she decides to quit all of her bad habits. The result is a creative block and problems in the relationship with her painting mentor. While her best friend Nina moves to Berlin in search of an environment more favourably inclined towards young artists, Eva works in a bookstore, tries to keep up with the rent and suddenly falls in love with her roommate Blaž.
The 25-day shoot will take place in Ljubljana and will be finished by the end of November 2019. The film is expected to be completed in the autumn of 2020.
Liza Marijina, who plays the title role, won the best actress Vesna Award for Damijan Kozole's Half-Sister (2019, Vertigo) at the 22nd Festival of Slovenian Film.
Eva is produced by Vlado Bulajić and Lija Pogačnik through December, in coproduction with RTV Slovenija and Aatalanta. The project is supported by the Slovenian Film Centre with 296,100 EUR and Studio Viba Film provides additional technical support in the estimated amount of 80,000 EUR. "RTV Slovenija contributed 76,000 EUR, while the total budget is estimated at 500,000 EUR," producer Vlado Bulajić told FNE.
Zinajić studied French and philosophy at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana but graduated in theatre direction at the AGRFT. She works as a theatre director, actor and assistant film director. For her work as a theatre director she has received several Slovenian and international awards. Eva is her directorial full-length feature debut.
