Recep Ivedik 2 nears all-time record

By Deniz Ziya Temeltas
Recep Ivedik 2 is challenging the box office record of Recep Ivedik 1 with 3.7 million admission in its third week, a slight drop from its 4.3 million in week two.
Oscar winner Slumdog Millionaire sold 55,334 tickets on its first week while the other non-Turkish features are pulling in a bigger share of the box office.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button reached 376,717, and Twilight climbed to 246,000 on their fourth and seventh weeks respectively.

The talk the town is not the box office power of Recep or Benjamin but the two films' dismissal by the selection committee of Istanbul Film Festival's competition section. The final lineup for the festival (which runs April 4-19) will be announced on March 10. The line-up could include the box office success Issiz Adam-Alone (2.7 million admissions), and Guz Sancisi - Pains of Autumn by Tomris Giritlioglu which is set for theatrical release in Greece in September 2009 in Greece and headed to various film festivals around the world.
