Animators! Ready, steady, go! – ANIMARKT Stop Motion Forum opens recruitment

The recruitment process for workshops, masterclasses and consultations planned for the fourth edition of ANIMARKT Stop Motion Forum, which will take place on 8-12 October 2019 in Łódź, ends on 20th September. It is the first in Poland and the most important in Eastern Europe international event devoted exclusively to stop motion and puppet animation. Workshops with Malcolm Hadley, responsible for the shooting of Tim Burton’s movies, or the opportunity to take part in the recruitment for the famous American animation studio LAIKA are just some of the events for which enrolment is still open.

ANIMARKT is a unique event that brings together representatives of the world of animation. It is a forum for outstanding artists, craftspeople, producers, distributors, TV broadcasters and investors. Participation in the events included in the programme is free of charge, however, due to the limited number of available places, prior registration is required.

Events that are still open for registration include workshops with Malcolm Hadley, a British cinematographer with over 20 years of experience in film and TV production, valued for his expertise in the field of time-lapse photography. He has worked on many award-winning commercials, short films and feature films, including The Periwig Maker, and critically acclaimed Tim Burton’s films: Corpse Bride (2005), Frankenweenie (2012) and Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs (2017).

The workshop has the form of a one-day crash course and aims to improve the participants’ skills in camera operation and lighting in stop-motion animation productions. The course is addressed in particular to those who work with the camera on a daily basis and search for further development. However, it will also be an excellent choice for animators and directors who want to deepen their skills and confidence in the art of cinematography.

Another event you can still enrol for is the recruitment to LAIKA, a world-famous stop-motion animation studio. The event is unique because it is the only chance to meet a representative of the studio in this part of Europe. It is a great opportunity to start an international career for animators and costume makers.

As a part of the ANIMARKT Business section, a series of consultations with professionals from various fields of film art is planned under the title of “Ask the Expert”. Use this unusual opportunity to discuss your project, ask for advice and dispel doubt. During this year’s edition you can present your ideas to producers, distributors, animators, scriptdoctors or representatives of financial institutions. Meet experts such as Luce Grosjean of Miyu Distribution, who was in charge of distribution of Oscar-nominated Negative Space and Garden Party, Corinne Destombes – head of development at Folimage, one of the most important animation studios in France, Tim Allen – an animator whose portfolio includes such great stop motion productions as The Isle of Dogs, Fantastic Mr Fox, Corpse Bride, and  Sophie Prigent – a representative of an international distributor of animated series sold to major tv stations and such platforms as Netflix and Amazon.

ANIMARKT is organised thanks to the co-financing from the International Visegrad Fund, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund and the Polish Film Institute.
