MIDPOINT Shorts: Masterclasses with Jeremy Comte, Celine Held and Logan George

    The six-day online workshop of the MIDPOINT Shorts program starts on Sunday, October 18 and runs through the week till Friday, October 23.

    The intensive work of 8 selected filmmakers with script consultant Pavel Marek and producer tutor Marija Razgute will be enriched by the presence of guest tutors. 

    Participants will start their pitching training with Gabriele Brunnenmeyer, who will also give her lecture How To Pitch Your Film: 6 Questions for the Pitch

    Head of When East Meets West Co-production Forum Alessandro Gropplero will join the workshop with his lecture A Short Journey Through Co-production Markets.

    The workshop program will offer two masterclasses by acclaimed and awarded short film directors: 

    Canadian director Jeremy Comte will introduce his short Fauve (2018), which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2018, where it won a Special Jury Prize in the short films program. It received several awards at other film festivals, including Toronto International Film Festival or 24FPS International Short Film Festival. It was also an Academy Award nominee for Best Live Action Short Film at the 91st Academy Awards. 

    American directing duo Celine Held and Logan George will talk about their short Caroline (2018), which premiered at Cannes Film Festival in 2018, won numerous awards; among others at Seattle International Film Festival or Palm Springs International Shortfest and was shortlisted for the 91st Academy Awards. 

    The MIDPOINT Shorts 2020-2021 program will conclude in January 2021 with the third workshop and project showcase within When East Meets West Co-production Forum.

    MIDPOINT Shorts is realized with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and the Czech Film Fund. It is presented in cooperation with When East Meets West.
