Croatian SHOOTING STAR 2010 to be seen in Berlinale Competition
16 December 2009 By FNE Staff
Zrinka Cvitesic, Croatian SHOOTING STAR 2010, will be seen in Competition at the upcoming Berlin International Film Festival. The young actress stars as Luna in the Bosnian/Herzegovian located drama On the Path (Na Putu), directed by the Berlinale Golden Bear winner Jasmila Zbanić. The Croatian Actress has been selected by an international jury for European Film Promotion's (EFP) programme SHOOTING STARS. Amongst ten of Europe's best young actors she will be presented at the upcoming Berlin International Film Festival between February 13 - 15 to leading international filmmakers and industry personnel. The highlight of the event will be their introduction by Festival Director Dieter Kosslick to the Berlinale-Palast audience on Monday 15 February and presentation of the SHOOTING STARS AWARDS - sponsored by Studio Babelsberg. Backing for the event comes from the MEDIA Programme of the European Union.

The SHOOTING STARS' jury commented on Zrinka Cvitesic's outstanding work: "In On the Path, she portrays a woman fiercely fighting against the odds to retain her dignity and pride. In her performance, she leads us through hope to desperation and from sadness to joy in a way which is never obvious nor predictable." Zrinka Cvitesic's award winning film list includes Horseman (Konjanik, Branko Ivanda, 2004), and What Is A Man Without A Moustache? (Sto je muskarac bez brkova?, Hrvoje Hribar, 2005).

"The SHOOTING STARS programme will showcase Zrinka's acting skills and her vibrancy internationally and puts her on an European level", Ivana Ivisic, EFP-representative of the Croatian Audiovisual Centre says. "The contact with colleagues from across Europe and meetings with renowned people from the film industry will give her a lot of input for her future career."

"For me its very very useful, I receive and read it every day. It is very useful to know what's going on in the region and it was previously an undiscovered area. FNE is doing a very good job. FNE informs us about not only film but also TV and production. Very often I am using some subjects from FNE in my TV programme"
