The animated film Stones from Slovak director Katarina Kerekesova is in the final stages of postproduction.
"We suppose that in April the negative from our film might be ready," Kerekesova told FNE. The director also wrote and produced the mid-length (26 min.) film. The premiere of Stones will take place at ArtfilmFest (www.artfilmfest.sk) in Trencianske Teplice in June. Stones is an animated musical about ten men who work in a quarry.
The film budget is €258 634 . Katarina Kerekesova has also established a small production company Od plotny. "Between 2003 and 2009 the Slovak Ministry of Culture granted us a total of €138,000," said Kerekesova. She has also submitted an application to the new Audiovisual Fond (www.avf.sk), for co-financing the film's distribution in the amount of €11,000 .
"The coproducer of Stones is the post-production studio atelier bod.ka s.r.o., that contributed €36,000 toward post-production work. We also cooperated with the Universität fur Musik und darstellende Kunst, Institut fur Elektroakustik, Filmton, with whom we recorded the music and worked on the sound," so Kerekesova.
After the summer premiere, Kerekesova plans the film to be distributed in Slovakia by the Association of Slovak Film Clubs (www.asfk.sk) as of September 2010 as a part of the Project 100.
