BUCHAREST: Director, screenwriter and producer Tudor Giurgiu is developing his third feature and currently co-writing the third draft with Loredana Novak. The film will be produced by Libra Film (www.librafilm.net).

Inspired by real events, the film tells the story of Cristian, a young and idealistic prosecutor, who tries to crack a case against an elder colleague accused of corruption. When he finds out that the suspect might have been set-up, he enters a danger zone paved with painful revelations.

Giurgiu plans a psychological drama analyzing corruption within the Romanian legal system, a new topic for Romanian cinema. Tudor Giurgiu is also producing together with his company, Libra Film Production (www.librafilm.net). The project was developed in EAVE European Producers Workshop 2011 (www.eave.org), and was also one of Libra Film's winning projects of MEDIA development support (http://ec.europa.eu ), the second stage slate funding in 2010.

The budget is approx 800,000 Euro, Giurgiu told FNE after receiving a production grant of 174,412 Euro (760,000 RON) from the Romanian CNC (www.cncinema.abt.ro) in November 2011. The production is still open for foreign coproducers. Shooting is set for late fall 2012, with the premiere set for 2013. The director had already chosen the main actor, Emilian Oprea, one or Romania's most talented theater actors. Some European sales agents have already expressed an interest in the project, but more talks are expected to take place at the Berlinale 2012.

Of Snails and Men/Despre oameni si melci, Giurgiu's second feature, is currently in post-production and will be finished before Cannes 2012.

Giurgiu also runs the Transylvania International Film Festival (www.tiff.ro ) at Cluj-Napoca and is the founder of Romanian Film Promotion (www.romfilmpromotion.ro ).
