RIGA: Inara Kolmane is working on her archive-footage based documentary project about the intimate side of the life behind the Iron Curtain in Sex And The USSR, A Double Life/Sekss un PSRS, dubultā dzīve.
Russian distributor Paradiz has picked up local film Under Electric Clouds/Pod electricheskimi oblakami, a coproduction between Russia, Ukraine and Poland. The film, directed by Alexey German Jr, won best camera award at the Berlinale and will be released by Paradiz on roughly 150 screens in mid-May.
BUCHAREST: George Motoi, an actor who embodied the prototype of an intellectual in Romanian movies before 1990, passed away on 4 March 2015 at the age of 79.
BUCHAREST: Tudor Giurgiu’s political drama Why Me? set an opening and box office record for a domestic film in the last two years. Released on 27 February 2015, it had 14,983 admissions in its first weekend, cashing in 50,538 EUR / 222,369 RON.
BUCHAREST: Only three Romanian films are nominated in Best Film category at the 9th edition of the Gopo Awards which will be announced on 30 March 2015. Andrei Gruzsniczki's Q.E.D. has 17 nods followed by Nae Caranfil's Closer to the Moon with 12 nominations.
COTTBUS: Bernd Buder, currently the Programme Director of the Cottbus Film Festival, is being promoted to artistic director of the festival, a position he will hold for the next five years.

PRAGUE: This year the 22nd edition of Febio Fest will take place from 19 to 27 March. Kim Novak, star of Hitchcock's Vertigo, will be in attendence.
SOFIA: The two part 117 minutes historical saga Dyakon Levski, directed by actor Maxim Genchev and produced by Amrita Art, ranked third in the Bulgarian Top 10 this weekend with 18,195 admissions and nearly 87,000 EUR in the box office.
SOFIA: The festival programme for the 19th International Sofia Film Festival has been announced. This year Sofia is celebrating 100 years of Bulgarian Cinema. The film festival will gather films, guests, stars, journalists and cinema fans from 5-29 March 2015.
PRAGUE: On the occasion of the East Doc Platform in Prague, the KineDok project and its website will be officially launched on 6 March 2015.
