FESTIVALS: Sofia IFF Lineup Announced

SOFIA: The festival programme for the 19th International Sofia Film Festival has been announced. This year Sofia is celebrating 100 years of Bulgarian Cinema. The film festival will gather films, guests, stars, journalists and cinema fans from 5-29 March 2015.

PRAGUE: On the occasion of the East Doc Platform in Prague, the KineDok project and its website will be officially launched on 6 March 2015.

VILNIUS: A tragicomic drama with flourishes of magical realism Miracle/Stebuklas written and directed by Eglė Vertelytė is in production.

Georgia Joins Creative Europe Programme

TBILISI: Georgian Minister of Culture and Monument Protection Mikheil Giorgadze and the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Tibor Navracsics have signed an Agreement on Georgian participation in the Creative Europe Programme in Brussels.

VILNIUS: Feature documentary The Ancient Forest by Mindaugas Survila (The Field of Magic, Monoklis Studio) is currently in postproduction with the premiere set for the end of 2016.

WARSAW: Maciej Dejczer is shooting a sequel to Letters To Santa, a romantic comedy that sold 2.3m tickets in 2011.

Within the key industry meeting of documentary filmmakers, East Doc Platform, Institute of Documentary Film will introduce a new international project, focused on alternative distribution of creative documentary, KineDok, on March 6, 2015 in Prague, Czech Republic.

TALLINN: Estonian Film Institute has announced the first round of this year’s minority coproduction grants. The grants total to 190,000 EUR out of the annual budget of 280,000 EUR and will go to four productions with minority Estonian stakes.

Tartu Sets Budget for Cash Rebate Fund

TARTU: The City Council of Tartu, Estonia’s second largest city, formally approved the launch of a regional cash rebate fund and set the fund’s initial annual budget at 150,000 EUR.

BUCHAREST: CINEPUB, an online and free of charge platform for Romanian films, will be launched on YouTube on 26 February 2015.

Polanski's Extradition Ruling Postponed

CRACOW: The Polish court has postponed the ruling on Roman Polanski’s extradition hearing and will rule in the director's case in April 2015 due to new documents added to the evidence.
