FNE at Finale Plzen: Burning Bush

PLZEN: The most acclaimed Czech film of 2013, crowned with 11 Czech Lions and awarded as the Best film by Czech Critics, Burning Bush directed by Polish filmmaker Agniezska Holland takes another shot at a best film award in the competition of the Finale Plzen festival of Czech and Slovak films running 27 April – 3 May 2014.

FNE at Finale Plzen: Revival

PLZEN: Director Alice Nellis scored a hit with the popular comedy Revival, winner of the Audience award at the 2013 Karlovy Vary IFF and one of the top Czech films of the last year with attendance of almost 245,000 since its summer premiere.

Film New Europe salutes the Polish Film Institute on its 10th anniversary with a series of articles this week looking back at the work of the institute over the past ten years.

The Polish Film Institute celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. General Director Agnieszka Odorowicz has been at the helm of the Polish Film Institute since the beginning. FNE spoke to Ms Odorowicz about some of the major achievements of the past ten years at PISF.

ISTANBUL: The top prize in the international competition at the 33 Istanbul Film Festival (5-20 April 2014) went to Blind directod by Eskil Vogt, a Norwegian film which has already won prizes in Sundance and Berlin earlier this year.

FNE at Finale Plzen: Clownwise

PLZEN: The film Klauni (Clownwise), based on a script by Petr Jarchovský and directed by Viktor Tauš was nominated for the Czech Lion awards in eight categories and Jiri Labus received Czech Critic´s Award for best actor in a supporting role.

VILNIUS: Nine feature film projects are among the recipients of 205,000 EUR in development funding announced by the Lithuanian Film Center.

BUCHAREST: Radu Jude's 1.4 m EUR film Aferim! has received 180,000 EUR from Film und Medienstiftung in advance of its mid-June 2014 production start.
