JIHLAVA: The new Vysocina Film Office, the latest addition to a growing list of film commissions and film funds in the Czech Republic, used the platform of the Jihlava IDFF to introduce itself to filmmakers attending the festival, which runs through 30 October 2018.

LJUBLJANA: Ten films will compete at the 29th Ljubljana IFF, running 7 – 18 November 2018. Slovenia will be represented by Urša Menart’s debut feature My Last Year as a Loser, which won the 21st Festival of Slovenian Film in Potoroz in September.

KOSICE: The Danish film The Guilty by Gustav Moller won the Blue Angel for Best Film at the closing ceremony of the 26th Art Film Fest on 23 June 2018. The Danish actor Jakob Cedergren won Best Actor award.

KOSICE: Slovak producer Livia Filusova of Furia Film, currently serving on the main jury of Art Film Fest (running through 23 June 2018), is on board the Czech/Slovak/Irish film Charlatan, which will begin filming in winter 2018, directed by Agnieszka Holland from a script by Marek Epstein.

SKOPJE: John Vardar vs. the Galaxy, Macedonia’s first animated feature film, has received funding from the Macedonian Film Agency and is lining up Bulgarian partners for a planned coproduction. The project was pitched at the recent Visegrad Animation Forum, which took place during the Anifilm festival the first week in May, where it received the Special Mention of the jury.

TREBON: The four-country coproduction Of Unwanted Things and People won the first animated feature film pitching award at the Visegrad Animation Forum (VAF), which was held during the Czech festival of animation Anifilm, which concluded on 6 May 2018.

TREBON: The sixth edition of the Visegrad Animation Forum (VAF) introduced its first feature film pitching competition during the Anifilm festival of animated film, which concluded on 6 May 2018 in the South Bohemian spa town of Trebon. The six projects competing for two awards included productions from Poland, Czech Republic, Macedonia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Hungary.
