BELGRADE: Cineplexx, the leading cinema chain in the region, opened its fourth cinema in Belgrade on 3 September 2020. The latest Cineplexx, situated in the BEO Shopping Centre, has eight halls with 1200 seats, and with unprecedented seating in the city.

BELGRADE: The production of the Serbian romantic melodrama Once Upon a Time in Serbia / Bilo jednom u Srbiji started in the Serbian town of Leskovac on 3 September 2020. The film, supported by Film Center Serbia, is the sophomore feature of Petar Ristovski, who helmed the 2018 cinema hit King Petar / Kralj Petar Prvi.

BELGRADE: Serbian action thriller South Wind 2 / Južni vetar 2 directed by Miloš Avramović and supported by Film Center Serbia, started shooting on 17 August 2020.

BELGRADE: The Serbian feature film Bad Blood  / Hadžijino zvono directed by Milutin Petrović is shooting at the same time with the 10-episode TV series Bad Blood, which Petrović  is co-directing together with Goran Stanković.

BELGRADE: Serbia announced its decision to re-open cinemas, theatres and concerts halls on 24 August 2020, with restrictions they must strictly adhere to. As a consequence, two major cineplexes will re-open on 1 September 2020.

BELGRADE: Horror film Don’t Breathe 2, a sequel to the American box office hit Don’t Breathe, will start production in Serbia in August 2020. The project has already applied for the Serbian production incentive programme and it will be serviced by the Belgrade-based company Work in Progress.

BELGRADE: Serbian biopic Toma, directed by Dragan Bjelogrlić and Zoran Lisinac, started production on 26 July 2020. Supported by Film Center Serbia the film is expected to premiere in the beginning of 2021.

BELGRADE: Serbian TV drama series Black Wedding / Crna svadba has started production on 15 July 2020. The release of this 10-part series is planned for the spring of 2021 on Superstar Channel.

BELGRADE: Film Center Serbia announced the recipients of its latest round of grants on 24 July 2020. The grants were awarded in five separate categories: feature films, long documentaries, minority coproductions, experimental films and video art & project development.
