BELGRADE: Ted Nicolaou's Subspecies V: Blood Rise, a new instalment in the famous horror franchise, is currently shooting in Serbia as an American/Serbian coproduction involving the local company Red Production. The producers intend to apply to Serbia’s cash rebate programme.

BELGRADE: Hadži-Aleksandar Đurović’s sophomore feature A Cross in the Desert / Sveta Petka – Krst u pustinji, which was released by Art Vista in 62 prints on 8 September 2022, scored 10,812 admissions in its opening weekend. The first coproduction between Serbia and Jordan surpassed Minions: The Rise of Gru, DC League of Superpets, Bullet Train and After Ever Happy.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Marko Đorđević teamed up with his collaborators from his successful debut feature My Morning Laughter / Moj jutarnji smeh and he is currently shooting That’s It for Today / Za danas toliko. The filming of this 100% Serbian coproduction is expected to wrap by the end of September 2022.

BELGRADE: Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Film and Audiovisual Activities in the Western Balkans. The memorandum was signed in the scope of the Open Balkan initiative in Belgrade on 2 September 2022.

BELGRADE: The acclaimed Serbian actress Mirjana Karanović started shooting her sophomore feature as a director on 29 August 2022. Mother Mara / Majka Mara is a coproduction between Serbia, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Switzerland.

BELGRADE: Following the major success of her previous documentary The Other Side of Everything / Druga strana svega (2017, Dribbling Pictures), Mila Turajlić has completed a new documentary, Ciné-guerrillas: The Scenes From the Labudović Reels, which will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (8 – 18 September 2022).

BELGRADE: The Serbian feature film Christina / Kristina by Nikola Spasić has been acquired by the UK-based Reason8 company. The deal covers all the rights around the globe (cinemas, TV, festivals, VOD), except ex-Yugoslavia. Christina won best first film at the 35th FIDMarseille (5 – 11 July 2022), where it had its world premiere.

BELGRADE: The Serbian political drama series Sabre / Sablja, created and directed by Goran Stanković and Vladimir Tagić, is the first ever international coproduction to benefit from new TV drama fund launched by the Bulgarian National Film Center.
