BELGRADE: Radivoje Andrić is preparing to shoot How I Learned to Fly / Leto kad sam naučila da letim at the end of the summer. The Serbian/Croatian/Bulgarian coproduction received a 150,000 EUR grant from the Eurimages board.

BELGRADE: Cinesseum is the first premium streaming service allowing people around the world to legally watch the latest Serbian films at the same time or shortly after they have been shown in theatres. Most of the films have English subtitles.

BELGRADE: London based Head Gear Films has announced plans to make a large investment in productions shot in Serbia. The investment facility will be operated in partnership with the Belgrade-based production outfit Balkanic Media, which was founded by filmmaker Jonathan English together with Los Angeles-based producer James Gibb.

BELGRADE: The UK/Serbian/German horror feature Vampir is in preparation to shoot on various rural locations in Serbia during the summer of 2020. Vampir will be filmed in English and it will mark the directorial feature debut of Branko Tomović, the German and European actor of Serbian descent.

BELGRADE: The Serbian film industry suffered nearly 10 m EUR in losses during the first three weeks of March 2020, according to a survey conducted by Film Center Serbia and the Serbia Film Commission in partnership with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

BELGRADE: The production on the new Serbian independent thriller Penance / Lihvar directed by Nemanja Ćeranić stopped after the first day of shooting. The filming started on 15 March 2020, but it had to stop due to the Coronavirus outbreak and the state of emergency declared in Serbia on 16 March 2020.

BELGRADE: The Serbian box office plunged in the weekend of 13-15 March 2020, with number one Bloodshot racking up only 1,121 admissions, compared to Pixar’s Onward with 7,967 admissions in the previous weekend.

BELGRADE: Karim Aïnouz’s The Invisible Life of Euridice Gusmao / A Vida Invisivel won the Belgrade Victor Award for Best Film in the Main Competition of the 48th FEST, which officially closed on 8 March 2019. The festival awards were presented at a ceremony hosted by the Kombank Hall in Belgrade.
