BRATISLAVA: The Slovak romantic comedy And a Happy New Year 2 / Šťastný nový rok 2: Dobro došli by Jakub Kroner cashed in 1,106,438 EUR at the local box office in five weeks of screening, which is more than Hollywood blockbusters screened in 2022. Domestic romantic comedies have remained at the top of the charts in the last two years.

BRATISLAVA: The Slovak/Czech/Ukrainian coproduction 107 Mothers / Cenzorka by Peter Kerekes was awarded best feature film at the 11th edition of Sun in a Net. The drama about Ukrainian mothers from an Odessa prison was also awarded for best director, screenplay and actress in a leading role.

BRATISLAVA: The 8th edition of the Slovak Film Week, the annual showcase of domestic titles, starts on 4 April 2022. More than 40 feature, documentary and animated films will be screened at the Lumière Cinema in Bratislava until 10 April 2022.

BRATISLAVA: Fakir / Pokiaľ ja žijem, a Slovak documentary in preproduction by Roman Ďuriš, won the main prize at the 7th edition of the IFF Febiofest Bratislava Industry Days.

BRATISLAVA: The Austrian short film How to Disappear directed by Total Refusal (Robin Klengel, Leonhard Müllner and Michael Stumpf) was awarded Best Film in the In the Heart of Europe Competition section of the 29th edition of the International Film Festival Febiofest Bratislava. The festival took place from 16 to 22 March 2022.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director György Kristóf is currently in postproduction with his sophomore feature Bunker (working title). The film will use dance as cinematic language and it is a coproduction between Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

BRATISLAVA: The 8th edition of the Slovak Film Week will take place at the Lumière Cinema in Bratislava 4–10 April 2022. After two editions which took place online and in an alternative autumn term, the event returns in person to its usual spring dates.

BRATISLAVA: The 29th edition of the International Film Festival Febiofest Bratislava is ready to return to cinemas after 2 years with a full programme. The competition section In the Heart of Europe will present 20 short films from neighbouring coutries. The festival will take place 16 – 22 March 2022.

BRATISLAVA: The Slovak/Romanian/Czech/Irish coproduction Servants / Služobníci directed by Ivan Ostrochovský leads the 11th Sun in a Net awards nominations with 12 nods, followed by The Man with Hare Ears / Muž so zajačími ušami by Martin Šulík and 107 Mothers / Cenzorka by Peter Kerekes, both with 11 nods. The awards will be announced on 9 April 2022.

BRATISLAVA: This year's on-site edition of the Visegrad Film Forum will take place at the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava and in the Lumière Cinema in Bratislava from 16 to 19 March 2022. The event will host renowned filmmakers Jim Stark and Eddy Joseph.
