PRAGUE: Vojtěch Mašek’s psychological drama Arved leads the Czech Lions 2022 nominations with 12 nods, followed by Petr Václav’s Il Boemo with 11, and Adam Sedlák’s drug dramedy BANGER. with eight nominations, respectively.

PRAGUE: Vojtěch Strakatý is currently in postproduction with his debut feature Eternal Peace / Věčný klid, which is produced by Marek Novák through Xova Film and supported by the Czech Film Fund.

PRAGUE: The Czech Film Fund has distributed 823,215 EUR / 20 m CZK as minority coproduction grants to ten projects including five feature films, four documentaries and one animated short film.

PRAGUE: The weekly Czech charts are currently topped by the domestic film A Christmas Story / Vánoční příběh directed by Irena Pavlásková and produced by Europeana Production, which had 40,548 admissions in its opening weekend. The film was released by CinemArt on 24 November 2022.

PRAGUE: The Documentary Homies / Sami doma by Jan Foukal will be released by Aerofilms in Czech cinemas on 16 November 2022. The film had its world premiere at the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival (24 – 29 October 2022) in the Czech Joy competition.

PRAGUE: Czech fairytale Prince Mamma’s Boy / Princ Mamánek by Jan Budař overtook the superhero film Black Adam (21,924 admissions), with 41,535 admissions and 250,006 EUR / 6,126,409 CZK gross in its opening weekend.

JIHLAVA: The French production 07:15 – Blackbird by Judith Auffray won the Opus Bonum Award in the main competition of the 26th Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival, held 25 – 30 October 2022. Deserters directed by Croatian Damir Markovina received the Best Central and East European Film award in the same Opus Bonum competition.

JIHLAVA: The middle-length documentary Invisible Landscapes / Neviditelné krajiny by Ivo Bystřičan had its world premiere at the Jihlava International Film Festival in the Czech Joy competition.

PRAGUE: The Czech Republic production incentives programme will get underway again 2 January 2023, until then incentives are temporarily suspended. A cap of 150m CZK per project will be implemented from the start of the year.

PRAGUE: The Czech/Chinese coproduction Till Love Do Us Part by Ran Li has its world premiere at the Warsaw International Film Festival on 14 October 2022 in the 1-2 Competition.
