FNE at KVIFF 2019: See How the Critics Rated the Films

By

KARLOVY VARY: This year for the sixth time FNE teamed up with KVIFF and critics attending the festival to rate the films in the Main Competition, the East of the West competition and the Czech section of the official Karlovy Vary International Film Festival programme by international critics attending the Festival.

The ratings give an overview of critics’ opinions from a large number of countries and provide insights into what critics in many different countries think about the programme.

This year the Czech National Film Archives have teamed up with FNE to offer the first five participating critics a gift of a set of beautifully restored rare Czech classic films. The films include Black Peter (1964) directed by by Miloš Forman, The White Disease / Krakatit (1948) directed by Otakar Vávra, comedies The Good Soldier Svejk (1956) and Beg to Report (1957) directed by Karel Stekly, Ikarie XB 1 (1963) directed by Jindrich Polak and From Saturday to Sunday (1931) by Gustav Machatý. The DVDs also include exclusive bonus materials. These DVDs and many other restored classics of Czech film are also available at the NFA online e-shop.
