PRODUCTION: Emerson and Co. received funding

By Zsolt Gyenge

Director Krisztina Goda (Children of Glory, Just Sex and Nothing Else) has received a declaration of intent for funding from the Hungarian Motion Picture Association (MMKA - http://english.mmka.hu/) for the first Hungarian 3D movie, Emerson and Co. (Emerson és Tsa). The film is an adaptation of a children's story written by Levente Lezsák.

Emerson and Co. will be a 3D film with real actors. The film is expected to have a relatively high budget and is planned as an international co-production to be shot in 2012. The film, with a fantasy world setting, will be shot primarily in a studio in front of a green screen, although the director has said that there may be some location shoots as well. She has compared her film to Shrek and said that she plans to use an international cast for and film it as an English-speaking movie, with a Hungarian dubbed version.

The film will be produced by Emőke Vágási and Cor Leonis Films Ltd. (http://www.corleonisfilms.hu/) who already have been accorded 3.000.000 HUF (10.700 euros) by MMKA for project development in 2007.
