Greičius Receives Lithuanian Cinematographers Award

    VILNIUS: Cinematographer Ramūnas Greičius has received the annual Lithuanian Cinematographers award "The Oak" (www.azuolai.lt) for the short feature film Our Father (Tėve mūsų, director Marius Ivaškevičius). The ceremony was organized by Lithuanian Association of cinematographers ( www.lac.lt) and the Vilnius international film festival (VIFF) Kino Pavasaris (www.kinopavasaris.lt).

    Ramūnas Greičius holds a Certificate from Charles University, Prague, and graduated from FAMU with MA in Cinematography in 2000. In 2008 he received the Czech Lion award for best cinematography and was named Cinematographer of the year by the Czech Association of Cinematographers.

    With award for the lifetime achievement was given to Jonas Gricius for cinematography in Nobody Wanted to Die (1965, director Vytautas Žalakevičius), The Last Day of Holidays (1964, director Arūnas Žebriūnas), Stairway to Heaven (1966, director Raimundas Vabalas), Hamlet (1964, director Georgij Kozincev), and King Lear (1970, director Georgij Kozincev).

    The Cinematographers Gratitude Award was given to the film gaffer Algis Žitkevičius, who has worked at Lithuanian Film Studio.
