Lithuanian digital TV service expands

By FNE Staff

Lithuanian telecommunications company TEO announced expansion of its digital TV service Gala to reach 95% of the country's population. TEO expects to reach all households by the end of 2008.

Lithuania is scheduled to end analog broadcasting of TV by 2012.

The expansion encompassed the region around surrounding eight towns in Lithuania, in addition to the country's major cities which were already served. Digital TV growth is expected to surge in the Baltic states as it becomes more readily to underserved populations.
