Central European films win top awards in Zurich

    Bulgarian, Slovak, and Polish producers each added a Zurich film festival award to their credentials.

    Tulpan, a German/Swiss/Kazakh/Russian/Polish (Filmcontract) co-production from director Sergey Dvortsevoy, won best debut film at the 4th Zurich festival. Best Documentary went to the Slovak film Blind Loves, a Skop Film production directed by Juraj Lehotsky. Bulgaria took home the Audience Award for director Stefan Komandarev's The World is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner, from producer Stefan Kitanov's Art Film company.
