Geislerová joins EFP Shooting Stars jury

By FNE Staff
Czech actress and international star Ana Geislerová will serve on the five-member jury to select the European Film Promotion's (EFP) ten Shooting Stars for 2010.

Geislerová, who has been garnering critical and media attention since first appearing in Czech films as a teenager, was herself chosen as one of EFP's Shooting Stars in 2004. By that time, she had already secured a European Film Award nomination for her performance in Sasa Gedeon's Return of the Idiot.

Since then, she has gone on to an international career, starring in films including the Oscar nominee Zelary. Recent credits include The Sadness of Mrs. Snajdrova (Albania/Czech Republic) by Eno and Piro Milkani, Hel by Kinga Debska (Poland) and The Case of Unfaithful Klara (Italy/Czech Republic) by Roberto Faenza. She is in preparations for the filming of her first screenplay.

In a statement, the actress said, "For me, it was a big step being selected as one of the SHOOTING STARS. I remember that belonging to the distinguished group of Europe's best young actors brought me into contact with many interesting and talented filmmakers from all over the world. I am truly proud that now, as a member of the SHOOTING STARS 2010 jury, I am given the chance to enable other colleagues to have this opportunity."

Joining her on the jury are Italian director Giuseppe Piccioni, German producer Karl Baumgartner, whose company Pandora Film is an co-producer of Central and East European films, UK casting director Leo Davis and Steven Gaydos, author and
    executive editor of Variety.

EFP (www.efp-online.com) will present the ten Shooting Stars during the Berlinale, on February 13-15.
