CLUJ-NAPOCA: Corneliu Porumboiu’s documentary Infinite Football will screen in the Romanian Days competition of the 17th Transilvania IFF, running from 25 May to 3 June 2018. The film had its world premiere in the 2018 Berlinale Forum.

Laurențiu Ginghină is a clerk from the Prefecture of the town of Vaslui, who has worked for the last 30 years on how to improve the football rules. The director examines his questions on why the playing field has to be rectangular or why the players have to run over the whole court, in order to extend the investigation into the relationship between football and life.

„Behind Laurențiu’s questions I sensed a conflict between the law and freedom, a conflict which I was always passionate about”, Porumboiu said in a statement. He also appears on screen playing a character similar to a referee.

The film was shot in eight days from December 2016 to May 2017. The budget was 50,000 EUR, Marcela Ursu who is producing through 42 Km Film told FNE.

Voodoo Films released the film in Romania on 9 March 2018. MK2 Films is handling the international sales.
