The first edition of the contest is organised on the occasion of the 3rd edition of the American Independent Film Festival, set to take place in Bucharest from 12 to 18 April 2019.

The deadline for sending the outlines is 26 March 2019. A jury will decide on the finalists and their authors will take part in a development workshop from 10 to 17 April 2019, where they will work with script doctors. A panel of specialists will analyse their projects together with Sebastian Stan and will choose the ones they could see developed as scripts. The winners will be announced on 18 April 2019. HBO Europe and Asociația Cinemascop will support the selected projects until the script stage.

Asociația Cinemascop, founded by Cristian Mungiu, currently organises in Romania the festivals Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest and the American Independent Film Festival.

The Romanian-born American actor Sebastian Stan was a guest of the 2018 edition of the American Independent Film Festival.
