BERLIN: The Eurimages Co-Production Development Award, endowed with 20,000 euros, was presented to the project The War Has Ended directed by Hagar Ben Asher, represented by the producers from Madants of Poland, Match Factory Productions (Germany) and Transfax Film Productions (Israel). The prize money is intended as a project development grant from the European film subsidy organisation Eurimages.

On 29 November 2017, the European Commission published two notable Communications on intellectual property rights enforcement, in particular relating to Directive 2004/48/EC on the enforcement of intellectual property rights. The Directive provides a minimum set of measures, procedures and remedies allowing the effective civil enforcement of intellectual property rights.

On 7 December 2016, the European Commission decided to refer Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Romania and Spain to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) for their alleged failure to notify the complete transposition of the Collective Rights Management Directive (Directive 2014/26/EU) into their national laws.

These are the production and minority co-production grants for the first sessions of 2018 announced by the Estonian Film Institute on 7 February 2018.

BUCHAREST: Mobra Films is partnering with HBO Europe and German coproducer TNT Serie on HBO Europe’s first international coproduction, the cyber-crime drama Hackerville.

 

Transilvania International Film Festival organizes between 1st and 2nd of June the 5th edition of Transilvania Pitch Stop (TPS), a program which supports the first steps towards funding for the most promising film projects, facilitating their international visibility. The winner of TPS co-production platform will be awarded Eurimages Co-production Development Award, valued at 20.000 euro. 

Deadline to apply: March 31, 2018.

TPS co-production platform is dedicated to directors from Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Greece, Turkey and Georgia and aims to discover a strong selection of projects destined for European co-production. Winner of last year edition, director Rati Tsiteladze and his project The Empty House will be one of the 10 Talent Projects to be presented in the Berlinale Co-production market in February, 2018.

BERLIN: The annual European Film Forum will take place in Berlin on 19 February at the Ritz Carlton Hotel kicking off at 10:00.

The film centres of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have signed an agreement with Locarno International Film Festival that will see six Baltic producers participate in the festival’s international “Match Me!” programme.
