Zubroffka Film Festival - programme announced!

    International Short Film Festival ZUBROFFKA invites you to Bialystok and Podlasie for the eighth time! Anyone who remembers the beginnings of the festival definitely noticed the way it has changed over the years: once a small intimate event, currently one of the most important short film festivals in Poland. This year’s ZUBROFFKA edition provides lots artistic emotions in the form of films but not only. Book your time from 4th to 8th December!

    During the festival, dozens of films from around the world, selected out of hundreds, will take part in five competitions! In the competition EASTERN WINDOW you will see films from Central and Eastern Europe, and in the competition WHOLE WIDE WORLD - works by artists from other parts of the world. Polish filmmakers, as always, will compete in the following competition: AMATEURS, STUDENTS and THE INDEPENDENT. Full list of selected films is available at festival's website: www.zubroffka.pl
    The filmmakers taking part in the competitions will be awarded a considerable number of prizes. The most important one, the Grand Prix of € 2,000, is also an opportunity for the global distribution of the winning film by ShortsTV.
    An international jury composed of Agnieszka Obszańska (Polish Radio 3 journalist), Taisia Igumentseva (Russian filmmaker awarded in Cannes for the film "Road To"), Leszek Dawid (director and screenwriter of "Ki" and "You're a God"), Emma De Swaef (Belgian animated film director and last year's ZUBROFFKA winner) and Mikołaj Wawrzeniuk, representing Bialystok school of reportage, will decide who deserves the award.
    The ZUBROFFKA audience will be able to take part in short film journeys to such coubtries as Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovakia, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Spain, England and even the Caribbean! They will also see special sets, including Animated Documentaries, Faces of Islam, short film nominations for the Oscars, Midnight Shorts, Legends of Old Prague, Israeli science fiction movies or Dutch films for children.
    The programme also includes film workshops ("Coffee on Glass" by Svetlana Filippova) and journalism workshops ("Writing and thinking about a film" by Magda Sendecka), a comics exhibition "At his own expense. The comic diary of the frequenter of brothels" and the Petrut Calinescu’s photography display "Around Black Sea", meetings with the artists, a live panel discussion and concerts. Among the stars performing during the festival you will see a legendary Estonian hip hop musician TOMMY CASH, the guru of London's dubstep & grime scene - SON OF KICK, the leading brand on the reggae jungle scene - CONGO NATTY and TENOR FLY, and the world dub music legend - MAD PROFFESOR! In addition, for the first time Polish audience will be able to participate in ANIMATED KARAOKE BATTLE!
    During the opening, the Polish premiere screening of nominees for the Oscar Academy Award® in the category of Short Feature Film will provide great excitement, and the festival gala, during which the results will be announced and prizes awarded, will feature a unique mix of modern music and video TRAINS OF THOUGHTS LIVE - SOFA SURFERS!
