PRAGUE: The Bosnia and Herzegovina/Czech/Slovenian/German/Serbian coproduction Men Don’t Cry directed by Alen Drljevic opened in Czech cinemas on 3 October 2017. The film is distributed by Aerofilms in cooperation with the Czech Television and KVIFF Distribution.
The film won the Special Jury Prize and the Europa Cinema Label Award for Best European Film at Karlovy Vary IFF, when it premiered in competition in July 2017.
Men Don't Cry was produced by Damir Ibrahimović and Jasmila Žbanić through Bosnian Deblokada Sarajevo in coproduction with Bojan Mastilović through Slovenia’s Iridium Film, Rebekka Garrido through Germany Menderley Films, Smiljan Tolj through Croatia’s Produkcija Živa, Snežana Penev through Serbian This and That productions and Cineplanet. The project was supported by the Foundation of Cinematography Sarajevo, the Slovenian Film Center, FS Viba, ZDF/Arte TV, MEDIA, the Ministry of Culture and Sport of Kanton Sarajevo, CineLink and Eurimages.
The film is expected to be released in Slovenia in February.
