PRODUCTION: Ludmilla in production

By Zsolt Gyenge

The Hungarian amimated series Ludmilla produced by Inforg Studio (www.inforgstudio.hu) and Solve Art Film (www.solveart.hu) is now in production, with the first episode of the 12-part series already in the post-production phase.

The project was presented by Inforg Studio and Solve Art at the recent Cartoon Forum.

Ludmilla, comprised of 12 episodes of 10 minutes each, is intended for an audience above 16 years at the Cartoon Forum in mid-September. The main character is a 19 year old girl who shares her life with a Vietnamese pig. The story presents her path towards adult life and the way she becomes more and more interested in boys. The producer on the series is Réka Kálóczy.

The script and graphic style of the 2D animation was developed by Mona Mechler (http://mechlermona.blogspot.com/), who first approached Solve Art with the idea. Inforg Studio later joined the project, along with Intuit Pictures from Berlin, where postproduction will take place.

The budget of Ludmilla is 800,000 euros, 20% of which is to be financed by Hungarian sources, and the production will also use the 20% Hungarian tax reimbursement. The producers are looking for partners for the remaining 60% of the budget. The series is designed for a European audience. The 12 episodes should be finished within two years.
