BELGRADE: Soy Nero by Rafi Pitts was awarded the Grand Prix “Aleksandar Saša Petrović” for Best Film at the 22nd Belgrade Auteur Film Festival – FAF (25 November – 3 December 2016). Tranzicija by Milica Tomović was awarded best film in the Brave Balkan Competition.
Short film Tranzicija by Milica Tomović was awarded Best Film in the new Hrabri Balkan (Brave Balkan) Competition composed of short and medium length, as well as feature length fiction films, experimental works and documentaries.
The jury of the Main Competition programme was composed of: Gurvinder Singh, Petra Weisenburger and Malgorzata Szumowska, while Ivan Ikić, Ivan Salatić and Tanja Šljivar decided the awards for the Hrabri Balkan Competition programme.
Toni Erdmann by Maren Ade closed the festival. France was the country in focus this year and the festival also screened Polish, German and Serbian films through tribute and homage programmes dedicated to Krzysztof Kieslowski, Malgorzata Szumowska, Andreas Dresen and Puriša Đorđević. A French-Serbian film rendezvous was also organised during the festival’s run, as well as the first edition of its new industry programme, First Films First (formerly Balkan Film Connection), organised in partnership with the International Cinematographers’ Film Festival “Manaki Brothers”, Sofia International Film Festival, Transilvania International Film Festival, Goethe Institut and many national film centers of the region.
