Polish War Hero Jan Karski to Reach Big Screen

    WARSAW: Producers Ole Wendorff-Østergaard from Sputnik Film and Anna Wydra from Otter Films will coproduce the adaption of the war hero Jan Karski's book Story of a Secret State as Sputnik Film acquired the rights from Jan Karski International Institute and Robert Laffont publishing house.

    The film is being developed to be a large international coproduction in English language with strong international partners. Shooting is set to take place in Poland in 2018. The film will be completed in 2019.

    Story of a Secret State recounts the story of the heroic exploits of Jan Karski’s life in the Polish underground movement during WWII. The film will tell the true story of Jan Karski, the man the Resistance chose to be Poland's courier to the Allies's forces in the West.

    Since moving to Poland in 2008 Ole Wendorff-Østergaard started up Zentropa International Poland and is now running his own company Sputnik Film. Otter Film's latest film, ZUD by Marta Minorowicz (shot in Mongolia and produced with Germany's zero one film) premiered in the Generation Kplus section of Berlin Film Festival 2016.
