Radosław Śmigulski Appointed New Director of Polish Film Institute

    WARSAW: Radosław Śmigulski has been appointed Director of the Polish Film Institute by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

    The Ministry of Culture And National Heritage announced the news on its official website on 7 December 2017, stating that Radosław Śmigulski has been appointed the Director of the Polish Film Institute for a tenure of five years. 

    Radosław Śmigulski graduated from the law faculty of the Warsaw University. He was the Director of the Film Agency at TVP and the Director of the Polish distributor Syrena Films. Most recently he worked at Totalizator Sportowy, owner of the LOTTO lottery brand, where he was a Board Member and Deputy Director for Sales and Marketing.

    Radosław Śmigulski and Izabela Kiszka-Hoflik were the two finalists recommended to the Minister Piotr Gliński by a special Committee created to select the new head of the Polish Film Institute. After selecting the two best candidates from a group of 11 the Committee asked the Minister to make the final call.

    Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage dismissed Magdalena Sroka as the Director of the Polish Film Institute on 9 October 2017.
